Volunteer with Team NANSA

NANSA is looking for volunteers in various departments:

Youth & Transition Services
Our young people are aged 11 to 18 and are looking for outgoing and energetic volunteers to support them at the Adult & Youth Centre or when out in the community.
NANSA’s young people want volunteers who will help enable them to be more independent when participating in sessions at our Adult & Youth Centre. They learn important skills like cooking, numeracy and life skills. Our young people also want to have fun! Activities include going into the city for lunch, bowling or the cinema. Being a teenager is a difficult period for any person, disabled or not, so our volunteers also have to have great listening skills and patience too.

Youth & Transition Services run – 10am to 3pm on the first four Saturdays of each month, and on Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays during school holiday periods.

Springboard runs - 7pm to 9pm on the first and third Thursdays of each month.

Adult Services
At NANSA’s Adult service we provide a comprehensive programme of educational, vocational, outreach, leisure and creative activities for adults with learning and physical disabilities. Our adults are aged from 18 years old and we have no upper age limit.

Our adults can work towards English, maths, reception skills and many other qualifications through the Gateway Qualifications scheme. We also offer sessions on a wide variety of arts and crafts, IT, cooking and music sessions. Our adults also like to be active and they can participate in dance sessions, learn to play boccia or go swimming.
We are looking for volunteers to add to the person centred service we provide by spending time and helping our adults to actively participate in our sessions. We encourage independence and inclusion for everyone and our volunteers enable us to give the very best service we provide. Volunteers may have a skill that they want to share, know sign language or just want to make a difference in a disabled person’s life.

The Adult Service sessions run Monday to Friday 9am to 2:30pm

Retail Support Volunteers
NANSA runs a Train and Trade scheme that helps people with learning and physical disabilities learn about the world of retail work/volunteering. Our trainees will have a development coach supporting them to obtain a qualification in our dedicated Train & Trade branches. Our other retail branches support trainees who may only need a little support from staff and volunteers. It is important that the trainees are empowered to participate in the day to day running of the shop.
Regardless of the type of retail branch, the volunteer role is customer focused. The volunteers are expected to deliver an outstanding level of service within a charity shop environment.
We also have the Artshopproject Train & Trade shop. This is different to our other charity shops as it’s an art gallery and it runs upcycling and creative workshops along with selling donated art supplies. The trainees here are still learning retail skills along with learning how to book exhibitions and workshops.

Volunteer hours:
Morning session 9am – 12pm Lunch Session 11am – 2pm Afternoon session 12pm – 4pm.

Do you want to learn more about Fundraising and Marketing?
NANSA needs volunteers to help organise fundraising events, promote the charity and find new ways to raise awareness of the work NANSA does. We also need volunteers with administration skills to help keep the team organised.

NANSA needs volunteers with those skills to enhance the Fundraising and Marketing department. If you are learning these skills and need experience we would love to hear from you.

Event Volunteers
NANSA’s Fundraising and Marketing team need volunteers to assist the running of fundraising events in Norfolk during some evenings and weekends.
These volunteers may be giving directions, collecting money, running a stall or promoting the charity and the work it does. All events are different but are a crucial to raising awareness and funds for the charity.
