Why Volunteer at NANSA?
Nansa offers opportunities to explore and develop new skills
You will get ongoing support (including 1:1) from Line Managers
There are opportunities to access NANSA's training and development programme
You will be supporting our work, making a real difference to the lives of people with disabilities across Norfolk
Nansa has a strong commitment to Safeguarding (protecting the vulnerable children & adults in our care from harm)

            Link-Up Volunteers
Link Up is the name of our new evening and weekend leisure service for Young People and Adults with physical & learning disabilities.

We are planning to offer more evening and weekend leisure activities. In Norwich there are only a few evening activities currently available for people with physical and learning disabilities and we want to change that. Link up currently runs on Saturdays, Wednesday evening and Thursday evening. If we recruit a bigger volunteer team we may be able to offer more evening activities and maybe even add a Sunday service in the future.
Volunteers are integral to the success of this service and will really make a difference. By using a team of volunteers we can reduce costs and provide a service that is affordable for our service users. The volunteer team will be managed by a NANSA member of staff.

Link Up volunteers will help our adults & young people actively participate in the activities we run. NANSA encourages independence and inclusion for everyone and the Link Up volunteers enable us to give the very best service possible. Previous activities have included: visiting a Sea Life Centre, going out for a meal or gelato, bowling, tubing and arts & crafts.

Each month NANSA will contact the Link Up volunteer team with upcoming dates and activities, each volunteer can then choose what evening/weekend day they can volunteer. Link Up Volunteers do not need to commit to regular evenings or weekends.

To help protect our service users NANSA practices safer recruitment. This means Link Up Volunteers must be over the age of 18, complete an application form, meet with us for an informal interview and complete a DBS check (where required). NANSA is a mindful and disability confident employer.

For more information please see the overview below. You will find a Word and PDF version of our volunteer application form at the bottom of the page. Return your completed form to volunteering@nansa.org.uk

            Volunteer Activities Assistants

Youth and Transition & Adult Services
The Adult & Youth departments are looking for regular Volunteer Activities Assistants to assist our service users to participate in the activities we run at the Adult & Youth Centre. These volunteers volunteer on the same day and time every week, this consistent volunteering means our staff are able to plan activities weeks/months in advance. It also offers stability and routine for our service users with learning disabilities. Our service users travel from all around Norfolk to attend our service and we have even been nominated for best person centred care at the care awards. Volunteer Activities Assistants can really enhance the brilliant service we already provide.

We run a wide variety of sessions and welcome volunteers who have an interest in Art, Music, Cooking, Drama, sports etc. Session Co-ordinators can identify any service user not engaging or who requires more help and direct the Volunteer Activities Assistant to assist. We regularly have students volunteering who are studying Nursing, Psychology and Occupational Therapy. They use volunteering at NANSA as an opportunity to broaden their own knowledge and experience of people with disabilities.

The Young people & Adults want Volunteer Activities Assistants to enable them to be more independent when participating in sessions at NANSA. The Young people also are looking for energetic volunteers to help when out in the community. Some of their activities have included rock climbing, skiing, a day at the beach and some have even volunteered at a food bank for the day.

The Adults also enjoy being out in the community and regularly go to the UEA Sportspark for swimming and boccia. The adult timetable has three sessions each day and the service users choose the sessions they want to participate in. We currently offer sessions on: Norfolk then & now, cooking, in the garden, weaving, health & wellbeing, stop motion animation and lots more.

To help protect our service users NANSA practices safer recruitment. This means Activities Assistant Volunteers must be over the age of 18, complete an application form, meet with us for an informal interview and complete a DBS check (where required). NANSA is a mindful and disability confident employer.
