We’re looking for a friendly, proactive, and adaptable Shop Supervisor | Development Coach to help oversee the day-to-day running of one of our charity shops while supporting trainees to develop valuable employability and life skills. Working closely with the wider Train and Trade team, you’ll help create an inclusive, welcoming, and aspirational environment where trainees can gain confidence through meaningful retail experiences and practical learning opportunities.

This varied role includes supporting shop operations, customer service, stock management, and visual merchandising, alongside providing tailored coaching and encouragement to trainees across areas such as communication, teamwork, confidence, and workplace readiness. You’ll model positive workplace behaviours, promote independence, and help individuals recognise and build on their strengths.

No two days are the same, and this role would suit someone who enjoys balancing practical retail responsibilities with person-centred support and development work. Whether you already have experience in supported employment, coaching, SEND services, or retail supervision – or you bring transferable skills and a genuine passion for inclusion and helping others succeed – we’d love to hear from you.

At Nansa, we recognise that people bring different strengths and experiences, so if you don’t meet every part of the person specification, we still encourage you to apply. If you are enthusiastic, supportive, and committed to making a positive difference in people’s lives, we can provide ongoing support and development to help you succeed in the role.

Job Purpose

The Development Coach supports adults with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) participating in Nansa’s Train and Trade programme – a careers and life skills initiative aimed at reducing barriers to employment and education. The Development Coach provides personalised guidance, practical support, and structured coaching across key developmental areas. The postholder empowers trainees to develop confidence, independence, and transferable skills through person-centred, inclusive support both within and beyond Nansa’s own facilities.
